Meet Connie Alsobrook
Candidate for Mayor, City of Conyers
Connie Alsobrook is a dedicated public servant, longtime community advocate, and current City Councilwoman for the City of Conyers. With a heart for the people and a bold vision for the future, she is now running for Mayor to continue building a stronger, more inclusive, and thriving community.
Connie began her journey in service in 2005, organizing grassroots efforts like coat drives, school supply giveaways, food distributions for the homeless, and cell phone collections for displaced women. She is the founder of the Teen Debate series at the Boys and Girls Club, empowering youth to develop leadership, confidence, and critical thinking skills.
She has served on the SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) Committee for eight years, is a graduate of the Conyers Police Department Citizens Academy, and is an active member of organizations such as the NAACP and the Democratic Party.
During her tenure on City Council, Connie has led initiatives such as the Summer Enrichment Program for youth, free ID copying for seniors and people with disabilities, CPR/AED training for teens, and family photo events for special needs households. She has hosted community-wide events like free drive-in movie nights, the annual M.L.K. Race for Peace, and Christmas celebrations featuring donated coats, clothing, meals, and trees decorated by local organizations. She has also organized multiple Town Hall meetings and serves on the Georgia Municipal Association’s Children and Youth Advisory Council.
Connie’s advocacy work has produced tangible results: she successfully pushed for reducing the first-offense marijuana possession fine from $1,000 to $75, advocated for limiting the number of liquor stores in Conyers, and continues to hold businesses accountable for contributing meaningfully to the city—not just collecting profits. She also initiated conversations to bring a second round of ARPA funds directly to Conyers residents.
In 2021, she completed the University of Georgia’s Paralegal Program, enhancing her knowledge of law and policy. In 2024, she proudly ran the IACP Fenway Fun Run, demonstrating her commitment to public safety and wellness.
Recognized for her tireless work, Connie has been nominated for Public Servant of the Year by the Rice Awards, received the Shining Star Award from Vision of the Minds Inc. (2020), and was honored by Beyond the Bell Inc. (2021) and Mom Biz Boss’s Women’s History Month “History Makers” campaign.
Connie Alsobrook believes leadership is about listening, learning, and lifting up the people you serve. As Mayor, she pledges to continue being transparent, accessible, and always act in the best interest of Conyers, because real leadership serves everyone.
